Network Connection
PwnPower can operate standalone or connect to your existing WiFi network for remote access.
Connecting to Your Home Network
- Enter your home WiFi SSID and password
- Click Connect
- Once connected, access the device via
https://pwnpower.localfrom any device on that network
The device uses mDNS to advertise itself. If pwnpower.local doesn’t work, check your router’s DHCP leases for the assigned IP.
Connection Options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Auto-connect on boot | Automatically reconnect to saved network after power cycle |
| Keep AP active | Continue hosting the PwnPower AP while connected to home WiFi (recommended for fallback access) |
| Forget Network | Clear saved credentials and disconnect |
Auto-Reconnection
If the home network becomes unavailable, PwnPower uses exponential backoff to retry:
- 30 seconds → 1 minute → 2 minutes → 5 minutes → 10 minutes
The AP remains active during reconnection attempts, so you can always connect directly.
Home Networks for Presence Tracking
Add up to 3 additional SSIDs as “home” networks. Any device seen connected to these networks is automatically flagged as a home device for presence tracking and webhook filtering.
This is useful when you have multiple SSIDs (2.4GHz, 5GHz, guest network) that should all be considered “home.”
AP Settings
Customize the device’s own access point:
| Setting | Constraints |
|---|---|
| SSID | 1-32 characters |
| Password | 8+ characters, or empty for open network |
Changes take effect immediately. You’ll need to reconnect with the new credentials.
